Nick was an unbelievable mentor for me before I made the transition over to England to start my professional career, which I’m still doing now as of 2024. The mental strength and technical ability he taught me were second to none. He got me to an elite level of fitness before starting my trials in Europe, which ended in me being offered contracts for a few teams in both England and Germany. He has an elite mentality and also has one of the best coaching techniques I’ve experienced. The lessons I’ve learned and the tips he’s shared have stayed with me throughout my career. I would highly recommend taking everything he teaches and use it in every session and game you participate in. There's nothing but praise for everything he’s taught me, and I know he’ll continue to do so for the next generation.

Nick was a big factor in my development as a football player. When I came to Nick, I was just a street football player, or I would say a kid with a lot of talent, but not sure how to take the next step or how to develop into a better football player and have a better understanding of the game. Coming to Nick at 11 years old with a lot of talent and a coach like Nick helped me get ready for the professional level. It was important because he taught me a lot of ball work, first touch, and how important that really is. He taught me that I should use my weapon, which is my skills and my speed. Those are most of the things that we worked on together individually. Every time I had the ball, it was always about quick feet and letting the ball do the work, basically, also the personality. My personality grew as a player, and I got more of a winning mentality having Nick as a coach. He was a big aspect of me becoming the player I am today with the exercises and the training intensity. The intensity of our training, our individual training, he tried to do the same like they did in Europe, so we were always training with full intensity, which also helped me for when I moved to Europe. I was on the same level and the same speed level and strength level as the other players.

I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to train with Nick and attend the National Sports School in high school, where I graduated in 2004. At that time, education and sport remained separate entities with little crossover. I do believe that my individual development both academically and athletically would have been greater had these two programs been unified during my high school years.I trained with Nick from age 12 to 18, and I can say with full confidence that his mentorship, approach to individual development and training style played a vital role in my ability to achieve success beyond the soccer community in Calgary. Nick’s ability to identify a player’s unique traits then development them is a talent I have rarely seen in other coaches. Nick didn’t just develop my individual skills but improved my vision and execution while demanding strong work ethic and commitment. The foundation Nick set allowed me to transition to playing NCAA soccer at Boston College where the demands were much more intense. Many years later, I remain grateful as I don’t believe the same opportunities would have been available without his coaching and mentorship. - Tara
